News & stories

  • Saab’s smallest version of 9LV is a powerful asset at sea and a scalable solution for every type of platform that needs access to the full situation picture and ability to communicate over data links.

  • Cheap and often produced in large numbers, sea mines are one of the major hazards facing modern navies.

  • Defence and security company Saab has acquired the Danish naval company Nordic Defence Industries (NDI).

  • In addition to a daily responsibility to maintain national sovereignty, navies all over the world are undertaking an ever-increasing number of international assignments.

  • In order to meet the challenges posed by the Baltic Sea coastline, Saab's equipment is designed for short reaction times, shallow waters and extremely cluttered conditions.

  • Defence and security company Saab displays its broad range of naval capabilities at Euronaval 2016, Paris, together with daily mini talks and press briefings at the Saab stand, F8-G9.

  • Defence and security company Saab displays its wide range of underwater warfare solutions at Euronaval 2016 in Paris.

  • Defence and security company Saab will participate in Unmanned Warrior, a demonstration and exercise held in Scotland and Wales 10-21 October, with its  anti-submarine warfare training system AUV62-AT and the waterborne anti-IED vehicle Sea Wasp.

  • operations against Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and similar threats by allowing bomb technicians to conduct underwater search and intervention for both improvised and conventional munitions.

  • Modern combat is evolving, as are the demands on equipment and ammunition. It’s not just one side with superior capabilities holding all the power anymore; both sides in any conflict will be utilising advanced equipment, protected by fortified and intelligent infrastructures.

  • With navies around the world upgrading their submarine programs, effective anti-submarine warfare measures are also needed. Saab’s AUV62-AT acoustic target provides a flexible and cost-effective way of training crews, without the need for an actual submarine.

  • With the number of military submarines in use set to grow over the coming years, effective anti-submarine warfare measures are an essential part of national defence. Saab has drawn on decades of experience in area to provide a cost-effective training tool.

  • Navies and coast guards are facing new challenges and emphasis is shifting towards littoral operations and self defence capabilities. In areas with intense maritime traffic, coast guards need to be prepared for threats such as missiles, helicopters and unmanned aircraft systems that are not only becoming faster but also smaller.

  • Modern submarines are part of an intricate internal network of different technologies, platforms, systems and equipment. What does it take to get the communication to work smoothly on board the world´s most modern submarine, the Saab Kockums A26?

  • Building the next generation of submarines is best described as putting together a giant high-tech puzzle. Thanks to modular based design and building, the A26 will be one of the world’s most flexible, cost efficient and future-proof submarines.

  • At Saab’s new Swedish shipyard in Karlskrona there is a strong impetus for development and great optimism for the future.
