Welcome To Indo Defence 2016

Saab has been in active Indonesia for many years, and is offering a range of solutions to strengthen Indonesian defence. Many of these will be on display at Indo Defence 2016, to be held from 2-5 November. Head of Indonesia, Peter Carlqvist, welcomes you to the Saab stand to take a look at all that Saab has to offer.

Saab will be participating in Indonesia’s premiere international tri-service defence expo & forum – Indo Defence 2016 at Saab stand in hall D, stand D 095 between November 2–5, 2016. The exhibition will be held at Jakarta International Expo (PRJ) Kemayoran.

 

At Indo Defence, Saab aims to showcase the width of Saab product portfolio, Saab technology transfer and efficiency of Saab products; aimed at strengthening Saab’s commitment towards meeting Indonesia’s all civil and military requirements with good value for money and future partnership.

  • The backbone of Indonesia’s air defence since the 1980s has been Saab’s RBS 70 Mk 1 and Mk 2 and the Giraffe 40 system as the sensor. The system´s unique capabilities, reliability and very low life-cycle cost has been appreciated by demanding users from Army, Air Force and Navy/Marines and is today operational on all continents in the most exacting environmental conditions, such as deserts, tropics and the Arctic.

  • For Indonesia’s Navy the nation’s vast coastline, some 54,716 km long, poses many challenges for monitoring and policing. These challenges can be overcome through Saab’s portfolio of naval and maritime, solutions and services that cover the air, surface, underwater and coastal security domains.

  • Indonesia, with its several thousand islands spread out over a large area, needs vigilant eyes in the sky that can monitor vast swathes of territory. Over the years, the complexity of the challenge has increased as both state and non-state actors have adopted stealth techniques and better communications to evade detection.

  • In an airborne platform, the first step of self-protection is to have situational awareness – you need to know if someone is targeting you and how. A fraction of a second is all that stands between mission success or mission failure. An effective electronic warfare (EW) system will provide that fraction of a second needed to respond to and neutralize the threat to the airborne platform in any scenario.
