Latest News & Stories

  • Saab is offering a fighter sensor package for India’s Tejas Light Combat Aircraft. The package, on the display at Aero India, includes two parts: An AESA fighter radar: featuring the latest electronically scanned array (AESA) technology and a compact electronic warfare (EW) suite using gallium nitride-based AESA technology

  • Cost-effective to operate and requiring minimal manning, very short range air defence (VSHORAD) systems fill the defence gaps left by longer range systems.

  • With the number of aerial threats growing rapidly, effective ground-based air defence (GBAD) is more important than ever. Used either alone or in concert with fighter aircraft, Saab’s GBAD solutions help armed-forces to gain mastery of the sky.

  • Defence and security company Saab offers a fighter sensor package for the Indian Tejas LCA Mk1A fighter aircraft. The package consist of a state-of-the-art Saab AESA fighter radar closely integrated with a compact electronic warfare suite using Gallium Nitride based AESA technology.

  • On the short range GBAD missile system market today there are two major guidance principles used. One of them is Proportional Navigation (PN), used for homing systems with Infrared (IR) or radar (RR) seekers. The other one is Line Of Sight guidance (LOS) used for Beam Riding and Command to Line Of Sight (CLOS) systems. What guidance system has Saab chosen for its RBS 70 NG system and why?

  • Several of Saab’s larger deals include long-term industrial cooperations with customer countries. The goal is to create good value for both parties.

  • The Indian Government is looking for an international defence partner to build a new generation of fighter jet on Indian soil. Saab is ready to take up the challenge with its Gripen fighter and a revolutionary technology-transfer approach to cooperation.

  • To ensure success, air force operations rely on an intricate web of support activities. One is the ability to perform aircraft maintenance wherever necessary, thereby ensuring that the system issued to deployed task forces is ready for operational use.

  • Modern warfare continually evolves. On today’s high-tech battlefield, sensors are becoming increasingly sophisticated, making it ever more challenging for military forces to avoid detection and identification.

  • Defence and security company Saab will have an extensive range of activities for the media during Aero India 2017, at Air Force Station Yelahanka, Bengaluru, from 14 to 18 February. Please visit us in Hall C, Stand 2.6-B.

  • Saab’s broad portfolio of Training & Simulation systems are highly relevant to the Indian environment. The Ground Combat Indoor Trainer is a highly realistic virtual shooting simulator that enables personnel to practice and hone shooting skills on a simulated live firing range or an operational area, using replica or appended weapons that accurately simulate ballistic performance and recoil. The system has a simulated performance that matches range and field environments.

  • Defence and security company Saab offers to set up the world’s most modern ecosystem and facility in India, to manufacture Gripen E for India and the global market. From this unique industrial base India will accelerate its ability to design, develop, manufacture, modify and enhance new fighters for the future.

  • India’s vision for the Defence and Aerospace industry is clear: Make in India is the future, so that India can reduce import of defence equipment, become more self-sufficient and export more to other nations. But what does Make in India mean?

  • The challenge of every Air Force, from acquisition to boneyard, is that of cost. Fighter aircraft need to be at the cutting edge of technology. At the same time, they need to fit into national budgets and be frugal in operations and maintenance. Countries like India, with a very large expanse of sea and land boundaries which are vulnerable from many sides, need that many more aircraft in the air. All this thinking went into Gripen from its very inception.

  • Saab's IDAS is an Electronic Warfare system designed to provide self-protection for airborne platforms in sophisticated, diverse and dense threat environments. IDAS (Integrated Defence Aids Suit) is a fully integrated multi-spectral system that can be configured for radar warning, laser-warning, missile-approach-warning. The system is fully integrated with the BOP-L countermeasures dispensing system.

  • The BAMSE SRSAM system is one of few systems in the world today that is developed and optimized as a dedicated Ground-Based Air Defence (GBAD) missile system. It is an all-weather operational Automatic Command-to-Line-of-Sight (ACLOS) missile system with unjammable missile guidance. It is designed for flexible usage both for stand-alone operation as well as in a network with other sensors and weapon systems.

  • The RBS 70 NG is a highly flexible and long term solution to evolving Ground-Based Air Defence requirements for any country. Based on the proven RBS 70 Very Short Range Air Defence Missile (VSHORAD) System, it is a missile system with 24/7 all-target capability, developed for any combat situation.

  • Airborne stand-off weapons are defined by their range, lethality and accuracy. To sit at the ‘top table’ when it comes to mission success, a weapon must excel in all three categories.

  • Defence and security company Saab will be participating in Aero India 2017 being held at Yelahanka Air Base, Bengaluru between 14-18 February.

  • The RBS15 is known in defence circles as the world’s leading anti-ship missile. Carrying a 200-kilogram warhead, it can be launched from multiple platforms including trucks, aircraft and ships, and it allows for true fire-and-forget operability in all weather conditions. But how well do you really know the RBS15? The following facts might surprise you
