“Saab provides a complete naval offering”

Saab is showcasing its naval portfolio at the fifth Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference, DIMDEX 2016, in the end of March. We asked Simon Carroll, Head of Country Unit Middle East, within Saab's Market Area Europe, Middle East and Africa what he expects of this year's event.

What will Saab showcase during DIMDEX?

Military and civil security operations within the naval segment and the maritime environment – the focus area for DIMDEX 2016 - pose greater challenges than ever. At DIMDEX Saab is proud to present its latest range of advanced solutions including fully integrated coastal defence systems, multi-platform surveillance solutions, our new surface-based radar systems, state-of-the-art command and control systems, flexible unmanned underwater vehicles, precision engagement systems and the company's naval platforms built by Saab Kockums.

Why is DIMDEX 2016 an important exhibition for Saab?

Given Saab's ongoing ambition to grow in the naval domain, the Middle East is a logical place to help realise this ambition. There are a number of active programs in the Middle East that provide an opportunity for Saab in a range of product areas and these will all be on display at DIMDEX. Also, when you consider that DIMDEX is the only dedicated Maritime/Naval show in the Middle East, this is the best opportunity for Saab to present its naval and maritime offer to our existing and potential customers and partners.

What are your expectations on this year's exhibition?

DIMDEX presents a very good opportunity to meet with both existing and potential customers from Navies in the region and, in some aspects, from around the world. Just as importantly though, it gives us the opportunity to build on existing defence industry relationships and to build new partnerships in order to develop our sales opportunities further in the future.

What would you say makes Saab the best, smartest and most reliable naval partner in the world?

Saab's trusted and reliable products are backed by a unique mix of high technology, proven effectiveness and lower costs. Saab is a significant contributor to the international naval and maritime market segment and covers the entire spectrum of surface and subsurface operations. For almost 80 years Saab has been collaborating with global partners to deliver innovative, effective products and solutions.

Saab provides a complete naval offering, meaning that if the customer desires, Saab can be the sole provider of end-to-end solutions. As a ship, systems, components and services supplier, our experience in managing the bigger picture makes us an invaluable leader and member of a team. Alternatively, Saab is also fully adept at working with other industry partners in order to meet the total requirements of the end user and will happily work within this type of team environment to deliver its quality products as part of a total system solution.
